TLF Tap Collective is excited to perform Soundscrape: The Expanded Set, a rhythm-forward, joy-filled exploration of tap dance, music, and community. Building on the project that first brought the trio together in Spring 2025, this expanded work returns to its tap and rhythm roots while pushing forward into new creative territory.

Soundscrape is a family friendly dynamic stage work shaped by rhythm, texture, groove, and improvisation. At its core, the work celebrates collaboration and connection, creating space for spontaneity, play, and shared expression. From studio to stage, TLF Tap Collective’s approach remains grounded in joy, lightness, and the belief that tap dance is for everyone.

Audiences are invited into a vibrant, musical experience where innovative style meets accessible energy, offering something for all to enjoy.

Following the performance, the collective will lead a short participatory musical exploration—inviting audiences to stay, engage, and experience rhythm, community, and tap firsthand.

Francine, Talia, and Liza met and connected through their love and passion for tap dance and have been working together as a collective since the Spring of 2025. The trio trained together in the Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble under the direction of Tasha Lawson and has since remained creative collaborators on individual projects. In April 2025, they participated in Dancers’ Studio West’s (DSW) Mini Research Lab, where they began the development of their piece Soundscrape. The work originated as a dance film and was adapted to be presented on stage. This piece received an Honorable Mention in the WildDogs’ Screendance Film Festival 2025. Soundscrape was presented at the Plaza Theatre in Calgary as part of the weekend-long festival. The trio had the pleasure of being creative residents for DSW’s Quick + Dirty 2025. In the three-month residency, they created a fourteen-minute piece that explored themes of childlike wonder which was presented at cSpace in Calgary. Since then, the trio has presented new work at Dance YYC, and is set to be in residence at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks this summer! They look forward to continuing to create and work together as a tap dance collective.
